Beícoli shared a few thoughts about how she crafted the sounds of Laika:
“My comfort zone has always been my voice. I love to play with harmony and the ways vocals can shape a song’s feeling - there’s something so natural about vocals. I wanted to use that to capture the atmosphere of Laika. I used that and my guitar as the foundation of the soundtrack. I wanted songwriting to be the core facet of the game as a whole, combining my love for this art form with influences from the South of Spain alongside more traditional game soundtrack concepts such as scene-setting ambiance. For every My Name Is Laika, which introduces the game's core themes and captures the mood of the western setting through instrumentalisation, there is a more “songy song”. My favourite being Mother, which wasn’t actually meant to be for this game. It's a very special song. The melodies, the ambience, the themes, it perfectly captures what Laika is for me.”
